- 2 cans (28 oz/800g) baked beans
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Chopped bell peppers, diced carrots, smoked paprika, liquid smoke.
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Beef:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it into small pieces.
- Add onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Drain excess fat.
- Season with salt, pepper, and chili powder.
- Combine Ingredients:
- In a large bowl or baking dish, mix the cooked beef with baked beans, barbecue sauce, ketchup, and mustard. Stir thoroughly.
- Bake:
- Transfer to a casserole dish, cover with aluminum foil, and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes to caramelize the top.
- Serve:
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Pair with cornbread, salad, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
